Distribution Point(s) in the same domain(s) as Clients? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

does it make sense to have Distribution Point(s) in the same domain(s) as Clients?

... that means to install a Distribution Point in every existing domain where we have Clients for managing?

  • No, it doesn't make sense. The whole point of DPs is move content closer to clients network wise. AD domains have nothing to do with the network or location of clients in relation to the DPs.

  • Correct, same answer as in the other thread that Garth linked to above. You simply provide an installation account. For DPs, traffic is all one way: site server to DP. So this installation account is also used for that communication. For a DP in an untrusted domain, that installation account is an account in that untrusted domain.
