Duplicating Calendar entries RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have a customer who has a hosted Exchange environment with 4 users. All of the users have Editor access to each other's calendars, but two of the users entries keep appearing in each other's personal calendars when adding entries through Outlook 365. I have tried to re-create this in OWA but it does not happen, only in Outlook.

    Does someone have any ideas?

    Thanks

  • Hi,

When adding entries in Outlook, we can check if same items also appear in OWA.

Normally, this issue occurs due to synchronization. We can recreate OST files to test the results. To do this, please refer to the steps in this article: Repair Outlook Data Files

Besides, do you have cached Exchange mode enabled? Under cached Exchange mode, items in shared calendar will also be cached to local data file. We can also try accessing shared calendar online to see if issue continues. Please check the steps below:

    1. Go to File > Account Settings > Account Settings.

    2. Double click your Exchange account and choose More Settings.

    3. Under Advanced tab, unselect "Download shared folders".

    4. Restart Outlook.

Any updates, please feel free to post back.

    Regards,

    Perry

  • Hi Perry,

Thanks for the response, however this didn't solve the problem. The two users in question tested their calendars, one appeared on the other's calendar within 15 minutes, the other took 45 minutes to appear.

  • Hi Darrel,

Is that entries created on users' own calendar will be automatically copied to shared calendar?

From your description, we can remove and then re-add permission for shared calendar to test the results.

Besides, if we close shared calendar and then add entries on their personal calendar, will these entries still appear on shared calendar?

Any updates, please feel free to post back.

    Regards,

    Perry

  • Hi Perry,

The calendar entries are appearing on each other's personal calendars. I have tested this with OWA and they calendars work correctly. They both have Sharing permissions to each other's calendars, so I took these permissions off and it's still happening.

    Sorry for not being clear.

  • Hi Darrel,

This issue is strange. Have you tried creating a new profile for one user and then check if items still appear on both calendars?

Besides, do they configure their email account on same device? Same Outlook client or mobile phone?

We can also try opening Outlook in safe mode to see if the issue continues. Please exit Outlook, press Win key + R to open the Run command, type outlook.exe /safe and then press Enter. This helps eliminate whether the problem lies on any third party add-ins.

    Regards,

    Perry
