Project 2010 compatible with Project 2016 RRS feed

  • Question

  • My boss created a file using the 2010 version and we both update and work out of this file.  I have the 2016 version and now neither of our changes are being saved.  What can I do?

What you and your boss are doing with Microsoft Project is certainly not recommended.  Because there are file differences between the 2010 and 2016 versions because of new features introduced in the 2013 and 2016 versions, passing the file back and forth between two different versions can eventually lead to project corruption.  That is what I suspect has taken place.

My big question is why your boss does not simply upgrade to the 2016 version to eliminate the risks?  Just a thought.  Hope this helps.

  • At the very least, you both need the latest updates to your versions of Project.
