Virtual applications failing RRS feed

  • Question

  •

    Hi,

    I am trying to distribute virtual application, but have no success so far. Everything is ok with sequencing, importing virtual application in ConfigMgr console.

    Client receives advertisment, but when running shows following error message in execmgr.log:

    CVirtualAppExecution::ExecuteProgram failed with a non-recoverable error(0x80009282).

    I have configured Advertised programs agent and distribution point to allow virtual application distribution.

    The environmenti is as follows:

    Sequencer: Vista SP1 (in workgroup)

    Client: Vista SP1

    ConfigMgr: ConfigMgr 2007 R2

    Also I didn't find the list of supported platforms for App-V clients and other roles. Can anyone give a link?

    Thanks,

    Peteris

  • That error resolves to "The hash value is not correct". So there's some issue in your site preventing us from updating the hash on the DPs.

    Usually updating the DP fixes it, but not always.

  • I do remember that I had something like that in the beginning too... As far as I can remember it had something to do with the installation directory during sequencing (Q:)

  • And you did let SCCM copy the needed files (osd, sft, xml and icons folder) via the Wizard from the networkshare to your package source? Because SCCM makes some changes to the OSD (and SFT) file.

  • Did you install the App-V client agent also? That's required.

    See this doc for supported configurations for R2: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc161851.aspx

  • Didn't mention this, but of course, App-V client is installed!

  • Any ideas?

    Also it is not possible to load virtual application using App-V client straight from distribution point.

    Thanks

  • Peteris - you unmarked the above as the answer without further commentary. Please add some reasoning.

  • Updating distribution points didn't help. The error is the same.

    So here is what I did:
    - Installed sequencer with default properties;
    - As an example I wanted to distribute virtual 7zip application;
    - I sequenced 7zip with default properties;
    - Saved the project to a network share;
    - Created virtual package (DP is enabled for virtual apps and advertised programs agent also);
    - created advertisement for the virtual 7zip, and then got the error;

  • Did you select Vista as an OS where the application can run on, during the sequencing?

  • I can't say at the moment because can't access Sequencer at the moment (our virtualization infrastructure is being rebuilt), but I remember that as installation directory I choose Q:\7zip.

  • As far as I remember I did as written in the link You gave. As a result there are three places where virtual package files are stored.

    I will try to sequence / deploy virtual package once more in few days time and post the results.
