Sysprep and New SID RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I have sysprepped a machine with  /generalized switch to copy the user profile and change PC SID.

Now I need to know at which stage SID changes ??? For example PC starts > Setting Registry >Installing devices > Restart PC > Present Windows Welcome page and allow user to input User / Computer name.

Is new SID changes before user /computer registration or after?

  • Hi Malik,

When you do sysprep and restart, the SID changes during the Setup that runs during reboot. And Moreover SID is not related to any User Profile.

  • Ok, so lets say when machine is going to be rebooted (setup will continue after rebooting the PC) and If I power off the machine, at this stage there will be OLD SID and will be changed once I power ON the machine ?
