Hotfix removal from Win XP RRS feed

  • Problem: Need to remove KB975713, OS Windows XP professional

    Description: I have checked the add remove programs with enabling windows update option, but still i could not able to see the KB975713. May be this KB is included in some other KB pacakge thats why I could not able to see it separately.

    I have executed the command "wmic qfe get hotfixid > c:\installed-hotfixes.txt", but this generated text file has the KBKB975713  listed.

    I have tried to run the "hotfix"command from the command line to remove the perticular hotfix, but windows not recognizing this command.

    Is there any easy way steps I can follwo and findout in which KB pacakge its bounded and How to remove this specific KB?

    Please provide me the easy steps.

  • I have one more comment to add here. If I see the registry for Unistall, I coulkd see this KB, but there is no uninstall string for this KB. So I think this may be part of other installed KB.

    How to find it and How to uninstall it? Please guide.

  • Ravisubrahmanya : There is a uninstall option for KB975713. I believe you have not rebooted your machine once the updates are installed. check the below screenshot.

    In case you don't find the uninstall option for KB975713, then you can try 2 ways:

    1) Install the KB975713 again by downloading it from microsoft at this link: http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?displaylang=en&id=3432

    2) Extract the hotfix through command line "WindowsXP-KB975713-x86-ENU /X:C:\folder"
