    Question

  • Dear team,

Please clarify, What is the status of the inbound and outbound mails during the database dismount status for internal mails.

we have a clarity on external domain mails.

    Our scenario :

2 CAS servers and 2 Mailbox servers. (Exchange 2013)

    Thanks, Mariappan Shanmugavel

Messages destined for those mailboxes on that database will queue on the mailbox servers. Users on that database of course will not be able to open their inbox.

  • Simply users that exist on Database won't be able to connect & browse their mailboxes.

An error would be generated like this; InnerException: Microsoft.Mapi.MapiExceptionMdbOffline

Feel free to ask further further questions.

That will still work if the transport service is running

  • Hi,

    Thanks for contacting our forum.

For your questions, the message will be queued for delivery on the mailbox server. For App relay emails if the destination mailbox are not on the DB which is on dismount status, it will not be affected.

    Thanks.

  • HI,

In our case, we have 3 mailbox servers and 3 cas servers.

When the issue reported time in mailbox A all database status was service down, in mailbox B all database status was dismounted, in Mailbox C all database in healthy status,

Pleas put your view on this,

    Thanks, Mariappan Shanmugavel

  • Thanks for your response.

Do you mean service down is the replication service/submission service/transport service are down or something else?

Messages to mailboxes on server A and B would queued for delivery and the send will receive the NDR messages.

But for server C, there no problems.

    Thanks.
