Licensing on IIS Application with SQL Server as backend RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

We are planning to develop an IIS 8.1 application with SQL Server 2016 as backend for our organization which will be accessed by our employees - both in intranet as well as internet.

We will use Visual Studio 2015 Community edition for developing the same.

The front end can be a browser or windows forms application which will communicate with IIS using Web Services/Web APIs to fetch/store data in the SQL Server.

The No of users using the applications can be internal employees as well as external customers and can vary.

In this scenario what kind of licenses do we need to purchase? Any direction in this matter is appreciated and will help us to plan accordingly.

[Note: If this is not the right forum, please let me know in which forum should I post this?]

    Thanks and Regards

    Ronti Kar

  • Ronti,

You will need to contact your Microsoft licensing reseller for any official answer on this.
