Windows 10 Enterprise activation? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have installed the eval copy of Windows 10 Enterprise but now have a MAK key. Can I re-activate with this key or do I have to do a fresh install?

  • Hi Steve,

We'd better download Windows 10 Enterprise from the volume license centre and then perform a clean install and activate it.

If you have Windows volume licenses with Software Assurance, or if you have purchased licenses for Windows 10 Enterprise volume licenses, you can download 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Windows 10 Enterprise from the  Volume Licensing Service Center. If you do not have current Software Assurance for Windows and would like to purchase volume licenses for Windows 10 Enterprise, contact your preferred Microsoft Reseller or see  How to purchase through Volume Licensing.

Windows 10 Evaluation copy page didn't mention if a valid key would work to make it a full version, but Windows 8.1 can't: under the part Windows 8.1 Enterprise Preinstall information:

    "

Following the evaluation period, you will need to replace the operating system on your test computer and reinstall all your programs and data. It is not possible to upgrade the evaluation to a licensed working version of Windows 8.1 Enterprise. A clean installation is required.
