  • Question

  • Hi Experts

To this onprem mailbox, manager is a cloud user lets say clouduser1@contoso.com.
can clouduser1@contoso.com use send on Behalf for this onprem mailbox without assigning send on behalf permission?

Will send on behalf and send as permission work in exchange hybrid environment? I am using exchange server 2016 cu13.

I cannot give send on behalf and send as permissions for cloud users to this onprem mailbox as when i browse i cannot see cloud users.if i want to give another clouduser(clouduser2@contoso.com) Send As/Send on behalf permission to my onprem@contoso.com mailbox. please help me with power shell syntax.

Answers

  • Hi,

    Answer your questions:

1.Can clouduser1@contoso.com use send on Behalf for this onprem mailbox without assigning send on behalf permission?

--No. The cloud mailbox can't send on Behalf for the onprem mailbox without assigning send on behalf permission.

2.Will send on behalf and send as permission work in exchange hybrid environment?

Send As: Since Send As permission does not synchronize automatically by Azure AD Connect between On-premises and Office 365. However, you could add the Send As permission manually in both environments. For more details, please see the link: Mailbox permissions supported in hybrid environments

Send on Behalf: Office 365 mailbox can be granted the Send on Behalf permission to an on-premises mailbox. Some changes are needed on the Azure Active Directory Connect server for Send on Behalf permissions to sync between your on-premises Exchange servers and Exchange Online. For details, see the Enabling support for hybrid mailbox permissions in Azure Active Directory Connect and Configuring your on-premises Exchange servers to support hybrid mailbox permissions .
