  • Hi Alu,

You need to associate the newly created search service application to the web applications.

Navigate to Central Admin > Application Management > Manage web applications >Highlight the web application applications > Select Service Connections from top ribbon > Make sure you choose the newly created Search service application.

    Best Regards,

  • Hi Alu,

I need to collect the following information to further troubleshoot the issue:

Check the crawl log to see whether the item has been crawled.

Is there some error in crawl log?

Check whether other users (such as site administration) can search from ""find an item"?

Try to start a full crawl again and compare the results.

    Best Regards,

    Lisa Chen

  • Hi Lisa,

Index Reset with PowerShell cmdlet below: Done *reference link here

    $ssa = Get-SPEnterpriseSearchServiceApplication
    $disableAlerts = $true
    $ignoreUnreachableServer = $true
    $ssa.reset($disableAlerts, $ignoreUnreachableServer)
    if (-not $?) {
    Write-Error "Reset failed"
    }

    Full Crawl: Done (No Errors)

Still not work for Search Box Library/List. Any other solutions?

You know, so many thread in TechNet about these issues but unanswered. Hopefully, this thread got the answer.

  • Hi Alu,

From the picture you offered, you cannot search "Greetings" from both list and search center, is it right?

Is it all lists in the site or just the one? Is it all site collections under the web application or only one?

If the whole site is the issue, Check Site Settings-> Search and Offline Availability->Allow this site to appear in search results.

If the List only check List Settings-> Advanced Settings-> Search->Allow items from this list to appear in search results.

If all of that is correct, Ensure in the Search Service Application that the Web Application is included in the Content Source under SharePoint Start Addresses.

Then use the URL to the Site and List to check the Crawl Logs to see whether the item is crawled.

    Best Regards,

    Lisa Chen

  • Hi Lisa,

From the picture you offered, you cannot search "Greetings" from both list and search center, is it right?

No, Search Center is working fine, which mean "Greetings" item can be searched via Search Center. I’ll mark as answer for Search Center issue, if list and library search box solved.

Now, we talk about Search Box Document List and Document Library issue.

    1

Is it all lists in the site or just the one? Is it all site collections under the web application or only one?

Yup, all lists in the site and all site collection under the web application too.

If the whole site is the issue, Check Site Settings-> Search and Offline Availability->Allow this site to appear in search results.

    Already checked, not affected.

If the List only check List Settings-> Advanced Settings-> Search->Allow items from this list to appear in search results.

    Already checked, not affected.

If all of that is correct, ensure in the Search Service Application that the Web Application is included in the Content Source under SharePoint Start Addresses.

    The addresses already there.

Then use the URL to the Site and List to check the Crawl Logs to see whether the item is crawled.

"Greetings" item already crawled under status successes.

Still not work. Any other solutions?

    Thanks,

    Alu Ozy
