  • Content Types cannot be used across site collections in MOSS 2007. If needed, you need to create the content type using a feature, and activate this feature in all the site collections where this content type is required. However there is no central place where a content type can be created and used across multiple site collections. So, for MOSS 2007 its not possible.

In SharePoint 2010, you can use Content Type Hub to create content types at a central place and publish them. So, the content types can be used across site collection from content type hub. And changes made in the content type can be pushed to all the site collections.
