Shell "cmd.exe" gives Invalid procedural call or argument error ONLY on 1709 and works fine on 1703 builds RRS feed

  • Question

  • Dear All

    The below commands works perfectly on windows 10 - 1703 build but whereas when run on Windows 10 -1709 it give me below error. I am running this from excel macro

    Public sub test()
      shell "cmd.exe"
    End Sub

    Error : Run-time error '5':

              Invalid procedure call or argument

    I believe there is no syntax error as this runs in another windows version . Also on Windows 10 1709, when i replace "cmd.exe" with calc,notepad , it works fine. Is it a compatibility issue? am i missing any patches/dll files?

    Thanks in advance!!
