Web App: assign resource with only 50% to a task? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Dear all,

I use MS-Project 2010 together with the server.

Is it possible to edit a project in the Web App and assign a resource with only e.g. 50% to a task?

Thanks in advance and best regards,

    Tobias

No this is not possible.  You have encountered one more limitation of using the PWA interface to edit projects.  In your scenario, you would need to use Microsoft Project Professional 2010 to assign the resource at 50% Units.  Hope this helps.

  • Hello Dale,

    just an additional question:

I tried to do a help column that calculate the % (work/duration) - this works in MS-Project Pro very fine.

Then I open the schedule in Web App and make some modification in the work column, but the new column doesn't calculate!

Even if I press the "calculate" button. Only after saving and opening again the schedule the modification are shown - how can it be!?

Is this another "special feature" of the Web App?

    THANKS and bye,

    Tobias

I suspect that for custom fields containing a formula, the calculation engine only runs inside of Microsoft Project 2010.  For me personally, there are simply too many limitations in using the PWA interface to edit projects.  Perhaps you are finding these limitations as well.  Hope this helps.
