All outbound calls appear as same number - Lync 2013 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

We are using Gamma direct SIP trunks to a FE/mediation server, and 2 separate servers for TMG and Edge.

All calls/mobility etc work fine, but all outbound calls appear to come from the same number. This is fine for users that don't have a dedicated DDI, but certain users/departments need there DDI to appear.

Is this a Lync configuration or SIP trunk?

    Thanks

  • Hi,

    well, it is both

you need to have a range of DDI's from your SIP provider, and on Lync you need to enable the user for Lync Enterprise Voice and define his/her LineURI using E.164 format e.g. "tel:+(countrycode)xxxx;ext=xxxx" where ext=xxxx depend on your extension schema.

also on Lync Configure the required Voice policies , PSTN usage, Routing and Trunk Configurations in case of number manipulations

  • Agreed, there are ways to mask the caller ID in Lync, but it's not there by default.  If users have distinct DIDs for the LineURI (should look like tel:+xxxx as Tohamey showed) then it may be the SIP provider.  I'd run the debug logger and watch S4 on the mediation server, or run WireShark and see if you can find the invites being sent to see what number is in the From when you're making a call.

  • I'd agree with Anthony and Mostafa and add this simple explanation...

When the Lync user does not have a TEL Uri assigned then the pilot number of the SIP trunk will be used as a calling display number (CLI).

Also (at least in my part of the world), some SIP providers will not allow the passing through of invalid CLI. When invalid\incorrect\no CLI is sent the provider then strips that off and substitutes with the pilot number (this is more common on ISDN though)
