Regarding Enterprise Custom Fields RRS feed

  • Question

  • Is there a way to keep Enterprise Custom Fields only on the server and not transport them to actual project plans when opened on Project Professional. This field is only required for internal reference and not to be shared with whom the Project Plan is being shared offline.

P.S I am using SharePoint 2013 and Project Pro. 2013

  • Hi there,

The Department functionality will probably help you if you want to restrict certain fields:

    Thanks

  • Hi thanks for pointing me towards the article, but it does not solve my purpose, I dont want to restrict the Custom Fields over the server everyone should be able to view it, but when the project is opened in Professional certain fields should not be visible in the Project Information so basically I think I need to replicate the default fields functionality for this particular custom field. Is there a way to achieve that?

    Thanks

  • Nothing I can think of in Project Server, but you could do that with a custom SharePoint list showing up on the PDP.  Store the field in the list, and filter only on those lines that relate to your project.

Essentially, it's the same thing.  Check some of my blog posts from March 2011 to see how to integrate a list with a PDP.
