First, make sure that your device is connected to the computer.  A splash screen will be displayed when Windows Mobile Device Center detects your phone and starts.  You must use a USB cable to connect your phone to your computer the first time that you use Windows Mobile Device Center to sync.

If Microsoft Security Essentials is installed on your computer, it may be blocking device connectivity. For the steps to configure Microsoft Security Essentials to allow the device to connect, visit the following Microsoft Web site: http://www.microsoft.com/security_essentials/default.aspx

  • Hi,

You may download the latest Windows Mobile Device Center and install it. In the meantime, temporarily disable firewall and update the drives in Windows Update.

When you connect the phone, Windows will detect the device and download the driver automatically. In addition, please check the status of Device Manger, can you see your mobile phone?  May I know what brand and type of your phone? I think that there is disc or software when you buy this mobile phone.

You'd better reinstall the mobile phone driver in the clean boot mode.

How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7

If the issue persists, you’d better contact manufacture for the driver of your phone.
