Windows 10 1607 in place deployment

    Question

  • Hi,

Need advice or support for in place upgrade windows 10 , we are trying to upgrade windows 10 from 1511 to 1607 via SCCM Task sequence, its work fine but few thing are change that we need to retain same as before upgrade in existing user profile, we have script that need to run on user profile once login after upgraded successfully for existing profiles.

for new profile or new user login we have no issues , only this change for existing profile.

    appreciate support on this regards.

  • We can't help you if you don't give us any actual details. What exactly do you need to change and why?

  • Hi Jason

Thanks for your feedback, all in simple word we want to run a script either vbs or ps1 once user login for existing profile, mean user who login before and his profile already exist in system and after upgrade we want to run again script for some setting to return back, although Microsoft is saying after in place upgrade using Windows servicing or task sequence upgrade, setting will remain same, but somehow few of thing getting change that need to retain as same for same user from where in place upgrade trigger.

doing in place upgrade all most everything remain same but still few option are change and we have develop script for that.

These need to be reported to Microsoft as these are officially bugs and they want to hear about them so they can fix them.

As far as effecting the change, that depends upon the exact settings you would like to change and where they exist.

  • Can you provide details about the specific settings on the existing profiles you want to restore after the upgrade? Depending on what the settings are, you can script it to run post upgrade, or just set via Group Policy.

  • If you are using a task sequence, simply add the task to the task sequence after the upgrade task like you would/can in any task sequence.
