System Recovery Issues RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am trying to do a System Recovery on my HP using the DVDs that the company sent me.  I installed DVD #1, and it partitioned the hard drive.  After installing DVD #2, I get this message:

    "Cannot load bitmap X:\Res256\BANNER.BMP"

I cannot get past this point.  Once I click OK, the system restarts.

Can I get any help with this?  I woudl truly appreciate it.

    Thank you, everybody!

  • Hi,

As it is Windows 7 OEM version, it is always suggest to contact HP for direct assistance.

Based on the error, there are two possibilities:

    1. The disk is damaged. Inspect them for scratches and fingerprints. If scratched purchase a CD polishing kit similar to this one: http://www.gizoo.co.uk/Products/HomeGarden/Home/CDRepair.htm Note: The third-party product discussed here is manufactured by a company that is independent of Microsoft. We make no warranty, implied or otherwise, regarding this product's performance or reliability.
    2. The DVD drive in the PC is not working properly.

    Your understanding is greatly appreciated.
