0x80070005 error message? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Whenever I try to use system restore or use windows update, i get this error message saying that access is denied.  I also can't even download files from the interent either, but I'm not sure if that error code applys to that or not.  It's a brand new computer too, so that makes it even more frustrating.

I'm not exactly the best at computers, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Hi,

Thanks for posting in Microsoft TechNet Forum.

Generally, error code 80070005 indicates that you do not have correct permission to perform related actions. If it is the case, I would like to propose the following suggestions.

    1.     Confirm that you are logon with administrator privileges.

    2.     Temporally turn off your security software such as anti-virus, malware/spyware protection to see if these software are conflicting with the update installer.

    3.     Microsoft has released related KB for troubleshooting this error code, it can be used in Windows Vista the same as used in Windows XP,  I would like to share this site with you.
