In SCCM 2012 how to deploy an agent just to one client? RRS feed

  • General discussion

  • Hi,

I just finished to mount the Windows in a server. Now the only thing I need to do is installing SCCM agent.

What is the manual way direct from the server and what's the remote way?

    Thanks

  • You could just right click the client from the ConfigMgr console and select Install client, follow the simple instructions. Job done.

    logs to monitor

    CCM.log on the ConfigMgr server.

ccmsetup..log on the client in the windows\ccmsetup folder.

edit - that's provided client push has already been configured on the Configuration Manager server.

  • Manual Way - Right click on the client machine and click Install Client.

Remote Way - There are multiple methods to deploy client agent. You could use site wide auto client push install method / Right click on a collection and push the client agent by clicking install client.

  • If for example I'm in the process to create a Windows image template and there is no connection yet so is it possible to download the client from SCCM and install it manually in the Windows client?

  • You can copy down the client folder from the Configuration Manager directory on your site server

You can then run the ccmsetup.exe file with relevant switches

Also if this is to be a gold image template for devices then you need to prep the installed client correctly. Check the 'How to Install Configuration Manager Clients by Using Computer Imaging' section

  • 3 ways to achieve the task

    1) Manual installation of SCCM 2012 client at client side

Run CCMSETUP by either copy entire SCCM 2012 client dump in a system(where you want to install the client) and browse the folder from CMDprompt to execute the command or only copy the CCMSETUP.exe of SCCM 2012 client and run the command. You can use different switches associated with CCMSETUP command.

    2) Remote installation of SCCM 2012 client from SCCM server

From SCCM 2012 console, find the system from 'All System' collection or any other collection if you have created, then use Install Client option by right clicking the target computer at console. This is called Client Push. You can target one system to many at single shot.

    3) Use EZExecute(GUI of PSEXEC) and run batch file to install the client in many systems at a single shot provided the account you are using for installation has admin access at client side and proper accesses so that PSEXEC can run at remote system without any issue.
