ProClarity web professional, extranet, connection error RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

We are having problems while connecting to SSAS using Web Pro on an extranet setup.

Have copied the contents of the ISAPI folder to the inetpub\webroot\PAS folder. Able to connect to this file over the intranet but not through the extranet. Gives a server connection error. (As part of ProClarity setup, the anonymous user login is disabled).

What else should i be doing to make this work. Please help.

    Thanks.

  • Here is the information on setting up HTTP connectivity to SSAS 2005:  http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechnol/sql/2005/httpasws.mspx

Once you've gotten that configured correctly, the Web Pro will just use the URL to the pump as the server name when connectin (e.g. http://mybimachine/pump/msmdpump.dll).

If this is working internally but not externally, have you done some testing to confirm that you're not running into more fundamental issues externally?  That is, have your confirmed name resolution, confirmed that you can access the IIS instance (perhaps run a test with a simple htm or asp page), etc?  In other words, are you sure that you're having trouble in the extranet with the msmdpump only, or is it possible there's something else amiss?

Finally, have you tried connecting externally with the MDX Sample Application or Excel to see if those work?  Essentially, is ProClarity the only app that's having trouble connecting?
