Project Server 2010 Notes Field RRS feed

  • Question

  • In Project Server 2010, there is a "Notes" field at the level of the project (different than the one at the level of the task). This field can be added to the Project Details Page but remains disabled. Can anyone tell me please how this field gets populated or where it retrieves notes from?
Our company wants to keep track of the weekly project notes so I am exploring if I can use this field for this purpose.
    Thank you.

Answers

  • to populate it you need to do two things...

    1. Turn on the Project Summary Task (Format | Project Summary Task)

    2. Highlight the Project Summary, click on the Notes icon on the Task Tab.

Notes are also copied to the Comments field in the project properties, and they can also be edited here.

In general though, I would use the workspace to capture what you want.

  • Several organisations that want a regular text description of project status, etc. use the Project workspace. This status information can then be viewed alongside the Issues, summary Gantt chart, etc.

  • Thank you for the reply. I tried adding the Project Summary Task and got the notes to update.

However, I am not sure where to find the "Comments" field. It is not in the Project Properties in MS Project and could not find it in the fields available for the PDP either.

  • Hi Moezz,

You need to check the Advanced Project Properties... Please see the image...
