Exchange 2010 Public Folder Calendar RRS feed

  • I am having a similar problem to this with Exchange 2010 sp1 RU6: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/da/exchangesvrgenerallegacy/thread/8202ac8c-4d39-4f55-9e10-959e670ec361

    I ran the Get-PublicFolderStatistics and the sizes and items are not equal. I have one copy on Ex1 and another on Ex2. Ex2 seems out of date and none of the new calendars that i've setup in the last few months are listed in the public folder management console.

    So when an outlook 2010 client connects...depending on, this part seems random to me, which server (ex1 or ex2) your outlook client decides to connect to you may not even be able to see some of the public folders that someone else is using. This creates a massive problem for me as the exchange admin.

    I am pretty sure that the copy on Ex1 is more up to date then the other.

    I could use some suggestions to get replication working again. Any help on this?

  • So you have two Mailbox servers in ONE AD site in your organization and there are two Public Folder databases, and the public folder replication is not working well. Right?

    If this is the case, please verify the replica configiration and make sure it is setup correctly. See http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb691120.aspx

    And then wait enought time for the replication complete.

    If the the issue continues, check the application event log to see if there is any error recorded.

    Thank you for responding. Yes I have one AD site and two two public folder databases that don't seem to match or replicate even though all the settings seem to be in place.

    I had been on this reference page early yesterday (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb691120.aspx) and I tested a few of the calendars out by putting in "Run every hour" for the public folder database replication schedule. They are still not replicating to EX2 where most people have reconnected since our exchange outage on Monday.


    Here are some example logs and I don't see any errors in regards to replication.

    On EX1

  • Yesterday I also tried the script: moveallreplicas.ps1 to move them from EX1 to EX2 and I don't believe anything changed after that. At least, there was no visible change.

  • I just changed Public Folder Referral from "Use Active Directory site costs" to "use custom list" and added the respective server to each mounted public folder DB. Replication is set to happen in 15 minutes so I'm waiting to see if anything changes. I'm at a loss here...

  • I don't mean to spam this thread but here is my theory:

    EX2 was the first Public Folder Database. The previous Admin replicated that to EX1. Everything was working until EX2 crashed and had to be rebuilt. The failover to EX1 worked and everyone was using the EX1 DB to build their calendars and replication wasn't coming back to the newly built Public Folder DB on EX2. When we had an outage this week I rebooted EX2 and now everyone's client is pointing at that server which is missing appointments as well as Calendars because it hasn't been replicating.

    Can I force EX1 to be the authoritative reference point until I get replication working? Can I force the contents of EX1's public folder database onto EX2 so we can get back to work?

    Get-PublicFolderDatbase |FL >c:\pbdb.txt
