Skype for business Federation RRS feed

  • Question

  • Need suggestion regarding Lync server.

    So the scenario is:

We have Lync 2010 and Skype for business 2015 servers in our environment and pools are Lyncpool and Skypepool respestively.
Lyncpool is associated with Lyncedge pool and Skypepool is associated with Skypeedge pool.
but the next hope for bot he edge pools is skypepool.
I need to decommission Lyncpool but the edge pool will remain active.
Here i have to make sure the federation with IBM should work even after decommissioning of Lyncpool as skype for business 2015 is not compatible with sametime which is been used by IBM. and currently the traffice is flowing through lyncedge pool.
All the users are already migrated to skypepool.

Will federation work with IBM if i decommission Lyncpool? If not then what action should i have to take before decommissioning the Lyncpool

    Please Suggest

  • Hi amitbhati,

I'm not sure that federation will work if the next hop of the Lync edge is the sfb server.

You can try this to change the next hop of the Lync edge to the sfb pool and test the federation. If it doesn't work you can still use your old Lync server as next hop, without users also.

  • Thanks Holger,

Next hop is already changed to Skypepool. currently the federation is working through Lyncedge pool.

My question is... i want to decommission Lync front end pool as all the users as been migrated to skype pool.

so after decommissioning the lync front end pool will federation work through lync edge pool??

    some more information:

    1. In Lync front end pool.... Lync edge pool is added in associations in topology

    2. In Skype front end pool... skype edge pool is added in associations in topology

    3. Next hop for Lync edge pool and skype edge pool is skype front end pool.
