"<database> contains a user defined schema" RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi All,

FIrst I took Back up of SP 2003 database through SQL 2000. Then I created a new databse in SQL 2005 and restored the SP 2003 database to the new database in SQL 2005.

Now I am trying to add that database to MOSS 2007 web application using following stsadm command. but I am getting an error

    STSADM Command
    stsadm -o addcontentdb -url http://myserver/ -databasename Database_WSS_Content

    Error Message
<database> on <sqlserver> contains user-defined schema. Databases must be empty before they can be used. Delete all of the tables, stored procedures and other objects or use a different database.

    Your help is much appreciated

    Regards,

    Manish

  • Hi Minish,

There are many reasons may cause this issue, you can try the following steps to check whether it works.

Please run PSConfig wizard and check.

If it persists, please check whether you have Microsoft GroupBoard Workspace 2007 installed, there is an identified issue with this application that it restricts attaching the databases to a new config DB, if you have, you can move it, reboot the server and then attach the database.

I saw a similar thread in the following link, so please make sure your backup and restore databases are correct.

  • Hi Manish,

Restore the DB with some different name and then try to add it to site.

Please let us know if this will be helpful or not.

  • Hi Pratik,

Restored the database in SQL Server 2005 with different name and then tried to add it to the web application through stsadm command.

But I get the same error.
