Windows XP can not load normal or safe mode after updates RRS feed

  • Question

  • Today on april 9, 2010 at least 15 of my IBM and Dell xp professional with service pack 3 computers would not boot up normally to windows. Error of Windows did not shut down properly comes up yet normal mode, safe mode or last configuration do not work either. The computers were shut down correctly. We are a Novell networked school and the problem affects some of the Zenworks computers equally to the non Novell computers. Seems to be from an update from yesterday affecting the computers. I have run the recovery console from the XP CD but it has not helped. I did run the setup again from the XP CD which restores the computer pre service pack 3 but that will take a while to do and then update the computers could just happen again if I don't know what to not install. Is there a hot fix or other update that I need to remove?
