Internet explorer 11 - "The office document cache handler" add-on from 'Microsoft Corporation' is ready for use RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi all,

after updating Office 2007 to O365 (Version 15.x) a message is displayed when opening Internet explorer.

The message is ' "The office document cache handler" add-on from 'Microsoft Corporation' is ready for use ' with two options "Enable" or "don't enable".

Does anyone know if there is a way to suppress this message?

    Thanks in advance,

    Andy

  • Hi,

Assuming that you want to use O365 for document sharing, then selecting the Enable option when prompted should stop the prompts from displaying again.

    Tools>Manage Addons>Show all addons

locate the addon in the list and double click it to show its properties. At the bottom of the properties dialog there is a text box with the label "You have approve to run this control on the following websites"... It may be that your Group Policy restrictions do not allow the control to run on all websites or your O365 portal.

The Properties dialog also shows the CLSID of the control.... check your GP profiles to ensure that that CLSID is in your list of allowed ActiveX controls.

Use the File>Properties menu to determine which IE security zone a web domain is mapped to.

    Regards.
