Public IP for Signature Updates RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I was wondering where and how can I find the public IP for signature updates.

The server needs to be able to go to the internet for updates to the FPE.

    Thanks

  • Hi Marian,

the Signature Updates are loaded from Microsoft Update. But if you have deployed WSUS then you could also retrive the Signatures from there.

Regarding the IP Addresses of Microsoft  Updates please refer to:

Configure the Firewall Between the WSUS Server and the Internet

    http://technet.microsoft.com/de-de/library/cc708605(WS.10).aspx

BTW: I wouldn't recommend you to allow WU on an IP basis. The IPs (a lot of) may change over the time,  but the WU DNS Names won't...

Use a proxy server and define FQDN destination set restrictions based upon the article advised by Kai...
