Where are stored the Datasource files for Report Builder? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

When we create a new datasource for Report Builder 3.0 (Project Server 2010), where are they stored and how can we retreive them?

    Thanks

  • When creating a reporting services report you have the choice of either creating an embedded data source which is stored in your .rdl file or creating a reference to a shared data source. If running SQL Reporting Services in SharePoint integrated mode, a shared data source would be stored in a document library which has been configured to enable the SSRS content types. Setting one of these up is documented on the Microsoft Technet site but let me know if you have trouble finding it. If setting up a shared data source connection in the .rdl you will need to navigate to the URL location of where that data source has been defined. The other method is if SSRS is running in native mode, then the shared data source connection actually resides within the SSRS database and is accessed via the SSRS web application, formerly known as Report Manager.

  • Hello,

The first question is, are you working in SSRS in Integrate or Native mode??

If you work in Integrate Mode, the data sources are keeped in a library. If you work in Native Mode, datasources are keeped on the server, and you can retrieve them accesing to a url + namedatasource.rds.

    Kind regards!

  • Hi There,
You can find the data connections under PWA BI center. Lists contains the data connections
    http://servername/PWA/ProjectBICenter/_layouts/viewlsts.aspx

Are you trying to retrive them from content database or want to check from URL?
