Lost Files RRS feed

  • Question

  • Is there any way to retrieve some files after steadystate deleted them. I downloaded 85 pics and now they're gone and I'm devastated.  These are pics that I will never ever be able to get again.  I did not realize that steadystate deleted files I downloaded from my camera.

  • Hi Rrodr,

First of all, I would like to know if you have Windows Disk Protection (WDP) enabled and configured to “Remove all changes at restart”, either you have the your account locked. I also would like to confirm if the pictures are saved to drive C. If the answers are positive, this can be an expected behavior. Otherwise, please tell me more about this issue.

Based on the design of WDP, it will cache all the changes to the system drive. “Remove all changes at restart” mode will remove all the modifications to the system drive at restart. If you would like to save files on the system drive, you have to configure WDP to “Retain all changes permanently” at least once. You can also save files to other partitions.

If you have your account locked, profile changes will not be retained after logging off. This is also an expected behavior.

If that’s the situation, you can try some third party programs to recover from local drive or your camera. I have included some download links for your reference:
