Cannot open file in Windows 7 RRS feed

  • Question

  • I cannot open my .docx file. I cannot even copy the file. A similar problem has occured with another file(presummably at the same time) however I am able to copy this file. I have tried converting the folder in which they are contained to zip and sending it to myself. The files apparently contain no data. I have also tried opening it in Open Office but to no avail. Please help me, these files contain several weeks of work.

  • Hi,

Since you cannot open this .docx file via Office Web Apps, the file may be corrupted in this case. As a test, you could try to open this file via Accessories\WordPad.

  • Upload the Word file to SkyDrive and open it with Office Web Apps.

  • Thank you very much for your suggestion.
I was given the follwoing error for the file which is allowing me to copy it:
<label id="message" class="WACStandardDialogLabel">Word Web App cannot open this document for viewing because of an unexpected error. To view this document, open it in Microsoft Word.</label>
    <label id="errorId" class="WACErrorId">Error Id: a71252cd-7218-4ebb-a7f6-43f9922e998b, 20120102222254</label>
I was not even able to upload the other file.
Is there anything else I can try? I don't even need to preserve images or format, all I want at this stage are the words.
