How to move an OS license from old server to a new one? RRS feed

  • I would like to know if it is possible to activate my OS using the activation key that was used in my old machine having the same OS?

  • Hi,

    You can simply just obtain a copy of the keys from Microsoft licensing portal directly, if you don't have a microsoft account manager to contact with, perhaps you can try emailing svlcops@microsoft.com.

    But in parallel, you may proceed to activate the server licenses using the old keys, provided if the server version are same and ensure they are not OEM keys, but volume license keys. Hope the below link help you..
