ie11 slow after july/august patches despite KB2991509 RRS feed

  • General discussion

  • Does anyone else see very slow response times in internet explorer 11 (win 7 sp1 x64) after KB2976627 (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2976627) despite Hotfix KB2991509?

    What we see on systems is "not responding" for example when minimizing internet explorer and then after a few seconds maximizing the opened site again via the taskbar or closing/changing tabs

  • Hi,

    There is a known issues when installed this update for IE 11:

    Issue 1

    After you install this security update, the Internet Explorer window may be very slow to refresh and respond when you open consecutive modal windows. This issue affects Internet Explorer versions 6 through 11.
    Resolution
    To resolve this issue, install update 2991509.

    Have you tried this solution?

  • Hi,

    Since new updates were released to fix known issue yesterday, please install latest updates to see what's going on.

    Can Internet Explorer performance troubleshooter find any issue?

    Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Troubleshooting\All Categories -> Internet Explorer performance.

    Post back the event log and check if you can collect the IE crash dump file for our research:

    First enable app crash dump collection by copying following words into notepad, saving it as dump.reg and importing it:

    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Windows Error Reporting\localdumps\iexplore.EXE]
    "DumpFolder"=hex(2):63,00,3a,00,5c,00,63,00,72,00,61,00,73,00,68,00,64,00,75,\
      00,6d,00,70,00,73,00,00,00
    "DumpCount"=dword:00000010
    "DumpType"=dword:00000001
    "CustomDumpFlags"=dword:00000000

    Then, open IE to repro the issue. If crash issue appeared, please find the crashdump file under c:\.

    Also, we can try the Process Monitor to capture the events when you repro the issue, let's see if IE try to read or write any files failed to hang.

    To further help you, please upload this file into Skydrive and shared the link here.
