Turning off windows server 2003 that has wsus running. RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I am running wsus 3.0 sp2 on windows server 2003 , We usually turn off the system at the day end due to power outage , will that affect the wsus in anyway and if so , What I need to do ensure the proper working and downloading of the updates after the restart . Does it affect the way that wsus download the updates , there is a automatic synchronization that is happening daily without fail.

    Thanks in advance

  • The only thing that this is going to effect is the availability of updates for your client systems. Just make sure that windows update is scheduled to check for updates during times that the server is up. Any time else you will just receive an error that windows update failed to contact the update server.
