Including Windows Home Server updates in WSUS? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Newbie alert--I just built a WHS 2011 box and applied WSUS to be able to get all my household W7 and XP updates after hours via my bandwidth-limited ISP. What I'm confused about is whether-and-how I can include the WHS 2011 updates themselves as a WSUS selection, so (again) I can control when they're downloaded via Synchronization.

Is this do-able? Do I select Server 2008 v2 in Products? There appears to be no entry for WHS 2011. If Yes, do I need next to make Registry changes to my WHS2011 box so it looks to WSUS for the updates?

  • No. Windows Home Server is not updatable via WSUS. WSUS is designed for the business market. WHS is not licensed for the business market. Thus there is no reason for WHS content to be released to WSUS. Automatic Updates is your best solution for patching your Windows Home Server.
