Export Project Center 2013 to Excel as numbers - Not text RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

In the Project Center 2013 there is a button Export to Excel. If I export some fields with durations or workloads, they arrive in Excel as text, unusable to build a graph.

Is it possible to export all these fields as numeric values?

    Thanks

  • This is behavior you get when you export data to excel from other sources. I have seen this with exporting data other than project server as well.

You need format the data in excel after export.

    1) Make sure you have "Number formatted as text" warning is enable in excel. This will help you to find celss which contains number data but formatted as text in excel. You can enable this setting by going to File >> options >> formulas >> Error Checking rules >> Make sure "Number formatted as text" is selected.

    2) Once you enable this setting, you will see error indicator in upper left corner of the cells which contains number as text.

    3) you need to convert data in these cells to number. you can use article http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/excel-help/convert-numbers-stored-as-text-to-numbers-HP003055900.aspx?redir=0

You can also right a macro to convert text to numbers.

    Hope this helps.

    Thank you,

    Kiran K.
