How to initialize facial recognition or fingerprint biometrics RRS feed

All replies

  • I have lost the facial recognition app to open my windows 10.

You have to reinstall the Fingerprint application or related driver.

Check your BIOS for biometric support:

Press the Power button to start the computer, and press the F10 key to open the BIOS setup utility.
Under System Configuration, look for a Biometric Device option; if it exists, enable it.
Press F10 to save this setting and restart the computer.
If a biometric option does not exist in your BIOS, then the fingerprint reader is always enabled.

  • Check for updates and restart your Surface

Updates may be applicable to the device driver or pending restart. If this process is completed, problems with Windows Hello could be corrected. Select Start > Sets > Security & protection > Windows Update > Check for updates to check for updates. Install any needed updates. Select Start > Power > Reset (or Download and Restart) after downloading all necessary updates.

Then attempt to sign up again with Windows Hello. You are automatically logged into Windows when your Surface recognises your face or fingerprint.

Note that Windows shows such options in the login screen if you've set up multiple sign-in methods such as a password, PIN, and Windows Hi, etc. You must choose this option for Windows Hello to function.
