How to edit existing packages RRS feed

  • Question

  • Can't understand how to edit existing SCE SW Packages.

    1. How can I see/edit the command line that is beeing used of existing SW packages? I see only the command line parameter
    2. Suppose, I have a Office Package with a command line that executes "install-office-standard.cmd". Now I want to add a second installation script like "install-office-with-access.cmd". I don't want to duplicate the 700MB package source just for adding "install-office-with-access.cmd". How to do this?

Thank you in advance for any help

  • Hi, Yes, you are right. You cannot edit existing packages. The reason is when you add the packages, the cab files that are created is sign and if you would add/change files the signing will not be correct. The only thing you can chaneg is the "parameters" you can add. These can be changed by right click and select Properties on the package. PS! I have requested the "change files in package" to the team and I hope they change that behaivure in future releases. Björn Axell MVP - Advisec AB http://blog.advisec.com

  • Hi,
1)You can't. You only have the option to see the parameters
2)You need to have two installation packages of the application

  • Hi Björn

    Thank you for your feedback.
    1. Is my conclusion correct, that it is NOT possible to refresh an existing SW package in SCE 2007?
    2. Suppose that an SCE 2007 customer has an Office deployment, and he want to add an additional Office option (like a spelling checker for the french language): Is it really true that he has to create a complete new Office package, and to create a complete new Office deployment in this case?

Thank you in advance for your clarification.
