Management OS to Share NIC

    Question

  • Server 2016 with hyper-v as host. In server manager, i need to select a NIC to allow management OS to share the NIC. Last time i did this, it took down all the VM's on the host and some how i had to manually allow management. There is currently a NIC that is allowing management OS and i need to change that to a different NIC. Doing this in server manager, is this the way to do this without taking down either the host or the guests?

  • Changing the physical NIC to vSwitch arrangement is likely to briefly interrupt network comms for anything using it. There's really no way around it.
