  • Hi,

    Is the XP able to remote other PCs:Windows vista\XP? Will the Win7 64 bit be connected by other PC except the XP?

    What is the exact error code or error message when connecting?

    Make sure the Win7 PC has the following settings enabled:

    right click "My computer"->system properties, "Remote" tab, enable the "Allow connections from computers running any version of Remote Desktop (less secure)"

  • Hi jasonroybal,

    We can't use Remote Desktop Connection to connect to computers running Windows 7 Starter, Windows 7 Home Basic, or Windows 7 Home Premium. Therefore, could you please let us know your Windows 7's edition?

    For more information, please refer to Remote Desktop Connection: frequently asked questions

    If you are not using the editions listed above, please install Remote Desktop Connection 7.0 client update for Remote Desktop Services (RDS) on your Windows XP machine to see if the issue can be resolved.

    Also, could you please let us know the error message in this issue? You can capture a screenshot of it by the steps below:

    Capture screenshot

    ============

    1. Please reproduce this issue, and then press the Print Screen key (PrtScn) on your keyboard.

    2. Click the "Start" menu, type "mspaint" in the Search Bar and Press Enter.

    3. In the Paint program, click the "Edit" menu, click "Paste", click the "File" menu, and click "Save".

    4. The "Save As" dialogue box will appear. Type a file name in the "File name:" box, for example: "screenshot".

    5. Make sure "JPEG (*.JPG;*.JPEG;*.JPE;*.JFIF)" is selected in the "Save as type" box, click "Desktop" on the left pane and then click "Save".

    6. Please upload the screenshot to your SkyDrive at www.skydrive.live.com and let us know the link.

  • Are you able to telnet to your machine on port 3389? Have you rebooted the Win 7 PC? Finally, on the Win 7 PC do a netstat -an and make sure its listening on 3389 as well type this command. Telnet 127.0.0.1 3389. Make sure this connects.
