Windows Server 2016 Policies

    Question

  • Hello,

We installed a brand new Windows 2016 Server and we would like to know if there is a paper/doc with the most common policies that we have to configure in GPO to implement in our domain workstations.

    Thank you

You don't have to configure any.  Things will work just fine in a default installation.  Configuration of GPOs is done on a case by case basis to meet the needs defined by different businesses.  You need to sit down and determine your management, business, and security requirements and determine if they can be managed/set via GPO.  You then implement for your environment using whatever model/implementation makes sense for your particular needs.

After determining your needs, if you have specific questions about group policies, you will find the group policy experts in the Group Policy forum - https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/home?forum=winserverGP

  • Pedro, how many users do you have? You can also install the Essentials Experience role and configure the server with the Essentials Dashboard because in there you will find a wizard with 'standard' policies that will help configure your workstations.
