  • Question

  • Hello together,

I am quite sure I misses a big piece but hopefully someone can help me out of this. When it is really necessary to create an MP and when it is better to do not. The reason why I am asking is that as I am writing down my requirements I am not sure if I understood the concept behind this right. I will try to explain what I have in mind and want to realize:

    1. I want to define one mayor MP called Contoso All Server Systems
    2. Below that I defined some folders to organize my system views (Windows Systems, Unix Systems, Exchange System and so on)
    3. Now I have some overrides for specific events e.g. Application Log or System Log events for AV, BackupExec etc.

Would this be the way to go or would it be beter to organize MPs different than this?

    Thank you for your feedback

    M.

  • I think you are asking "Is there a way I can reorganize the tree-view that shows the list of monitored applicaitons in my operator console".

If this is your question, the answer is no, you cannot rearrange the tree.  The reason is that the way a folder is defines involves naming its parent.   Thus each Mp defines its own structure starting with the top of the tree that you see in the treeview.

  • Hi

As Dan says, it isn't totally clear what you are trying to do. But with relation to overrides (question 3), best practics is as follows:

I'm just not sure what you are looking to do with Question 1 and 2 as views are available out of the box usually with best practice applied with the standard management packs.

    Cheers
