System Service Exception Received : On trying to install Symantace Antivirus Software RRS feed

  • Question

  • I had recently upgraded to Windows 10 OS . I tried installing Symantec Antivius "Symantec_Endpoint_Protection_12.1.4_Win64-bit_Client_EN".

First time on installing it gave error message indicating that this will not get installed as app is not supported on this version of the windows , but then later on trying it got installed.

Now after installation i was unable to launch it (although it continued to show up in the system tray as item which is running

Searched on net and found that symantec had released another version of the software which is specific to windows 10 ,so i downlaoded that "Symantec Endpoint Protection 12.1.6318.6100 (RU6 MP1a) winx64

Tried uninstalling the previous version all attempts failed  including ( Change> Remove , Unistall option) from the Control Panel

On trying to install the 'Symantec Endpoint Protection 12.1.6318.6100 (RU6 MP1a) winx64'  in system it's generating error message

System Service Exception and then system Re- Starts

  • Hi KalkiAvatharam,

Please consider seek help at the Symantec side for further assistance.

Besides, if you have enabled system protection, then we may restore the system to the state before we install the Symantec.

  • SEP version 12.1.5 is not supported (compatible) in Windows 10. It makes me something similiar when installing a 12.1.1 / version of Windows 8.1, there was a problem of incompatible.
You should enter http://fileconnect.symantec.com, and your serial number to download the current version -> https://support.symantec.com/en_US/article.TECH103088.html
