Making SMS 2003 Sp3 compatible with Win7. RRS feed

  • Hi everyone,

    we are planning to make SMS 2003 Sp3 compatible with win 7 (yeah i know we are very much lagging behind) came through this patch(KB974014), do we have to install it primary alone or secondary servers as well.

    Pls help!!!!!!!!!.

  • If you look at the hotfix, it says this:

    "To resolve compatibility issues, install this compatibility pack on all site servers that are running SMS 2003 SP3."

    So to me, that implies ALL site servers.

  • Nope. SMS 2003 SP3 won't support Win7 clients.

  • Thanks Anoop, but we have tested it once, win 7 got discovered and we pushed some apps too in the lab, i know that Microsoft does not support it, but yet win7 cam be managed right.....

  • Yeah thanks!!!!!!!!!! This is the patch i was trying to install, but want to know whether it has to be installed only in my primary or in the secondary servers also... Thanks for your time once again guys!

  • Since its not officially supported I am not sure how much help you will get here. But since they are separate sites, you will likely need to deploy the patch in the secondaries as well. Of course with all patches I would do it in the lab first.
