One Netbook - Many same model USB printers - need to share single printer setup. RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am using an HP netbook running WinXP SP3.  Several locations have Zebra label printers of the same model and this netbook will connect via USB to each and everyone of these throughout the course of a day.  The netbook sees and operates fine with the printer that was initially installed.  The problem starts when the second printer is attached via USB - it starts the add hardware routine which requires another printer driver to be created.  Is there a way all of these printers can share the one printer driver setup?

  • Thank you for using the forums !    The netbook is by default portable, and therefore does not make persistent connections to external devices, especially removable ones !  The way around this is to use the "safely remove hardware" icon on the taskbar's notifications tab, and to try to have each printer that will be used in the day's time listed in the printer's section of the control panel.
