SPS-HireDate field - is this in AD or MOSS RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

We are looking at a using a MOSS 2007 webpart which has the SPS-HireDate as a requirement to display anniversaries.  im having trouble seeing where this field comes from...do we create it in moss and populate ourselves...or is this an Active Directory field that we pull from somewhere?

    Thanks..

  • Can you put some context around this please?  Have you created a SharePoint attribute or is this something you're using now.  I imagine is a viable solution but without knowing more of the specifics I can't really advise.

  • Hi,

Yes of course.  In the below link you can see the 3rd party webpart we are evaluating...its an anniversay webpart we are looking to use for our employees.  You can see it lists the AD fields etc... and how to populate them.  But i cant understand the field SPS-HireDate field...when i search on google i see it mentioned in other places.  It doesnt sound like an AD field (the SPS part).  So im thinking is this a field we create in user profiles and populate there...but this doesnt appear to be how its done.

  • The first thing I'd advise is looking at the comments in that link, as there seems to be something relating to your partcular problem there.

It's not an Active Directory field, it's going to be a site column, as this is what's used in the metadata mapping search parameters. I suspect its a date/time column too.  Check in the site administration and the central administration, depending what level you've scoped the web part too and I suspect you'll see it there.

Please let us know how this works out.

    Hi,

After more examination this SPS-HireDate field is a moss default field which is accessible in the user profile section of any user there.  The date can be filled in there and then accessed through a custom/3rd party webpart etc...

    Thanks
