Outlook 2016 will not sync on PC

Question
-
I just installed Microsoft Office 2016 on my PC. Now Outlook 2016 will not sync my emails. I can see all emails on my IPhone and when I log into Hotmail on the web, but many emails are missing from my Outlook inbox. I tried using the repair function in account settings but it says to turn off work offline mode (which I have done but it's still not working). How can I fix this issue?Thursday, October 22, 2015 1:19 AM

Hi,
How did you configure your Hotmail account in Outlook 2016? Via IMAP, POP3 or Exchange ActiveSync? Did you receive the testing email message when the email configuration completed? Please try to manually configure your Hotmail via Exchange ActiveSync in Outlook 2016 to see if it helps. The mail server should be:
m.hotmail.com
Is sending/receiving working correctly in Outlook? If sending/receiving works correctly, please check if you have the 'Mail to keep offline' slider set to a short period. If so, change the setting to 'All' and then check the result. To do this, go to File > Account Settings > Account Settings, double click your Hotmail account...
This issue could also happen if you have some custom view/filter set so that some emails were hidden. We can try to start Outlook with /cleanviews switch to reset all custom views to see the result. To do this, press Windows key + R to open the Run command, type outlook /cleanviews and press Enter.
Please let me know the result.

Hi
Same here. Everything worked before without an issue. I upgraded to 2016 since a few weeks and only just today, I noticed Gmail permanently sync's without ever updating. If I restart Outlook some emails do appear, but it then gets stuck syncing again.
Looking forward to a fix.

I am also experiencing this issue with a hotmail email account. I can see the emails in outlook and they show up on my other pc running Outlook 2013, but 2016 will not download any email past 2011. It shows connection to server, upload and download, but nothing is happening. I like outlook, but if I can't use it, not much help.
Any help is appreciated

I'm having exactly the same problem. Bought a new Dell with MS Office 2016 Pro, installed it, added my BT account (I see it's created an IMAP account, not a POP3 like on my old machine, not that there's anyway to change that), and my Inbox doesn't pick up any mails. Bizarrely, if I search on my Inbox for, say, items less than a year old, I see them ????? Also, on the second user on this PC (my wife's), I set up her BT account in EXACTLY the same manner, her's works perfectly. How on earth can this happen? I too reinstalled the factory image on this new PC, went thru the Office install for the third time now, and of course it's fixed NOTHING. I've seen nothing to suggest a fix. This is totally ridiculous :-(

I am having a similar issue: some folders sync but all of the ones I created do not.
When in doubt empty the magazine...

I am having the same issue. Mine worked for awhile. First the sent messages started to hang, then the sent files wouldn't sync. Now nothing syncs properly. Some of the folders are empty, some have some of the emails (both old and new) but miss entire days.
I have read through these forums and have tried everything that was suggested, including uninstalling and reinstalling the program (Outlook 2016)

I have had the same issue of Outlook 2016 and Hotmail not synching.
In Outlook I went to File then Account Settings. When the Account settings window popped up I selected the account that was not synching (I have two different hotmail accounts connected to Outlook), clicked Change account... and then typed eas.outlook.com in the Mail server box.
Now the Outlook and hotmail accounts are synching.

These recommendations are not the solution to this problem. I can see that I am not the only one experiencing this. If this cannot be resolved, Are we able to download Outlook 2013 through our Office365 subscription?Sunday, November 6, 2016 12:37 AM

I am having the same issue with one of my email accounts. It stopped working on Wednesday after 1:36pm Phoenix time. I can see that there are emails when I view this particular account on webmail, but the emails received after the Wednesday (2/22/2017) time are not being received by Outlook.Friday, February 24, 2017 5:18 AM

Good morning everyone.
I experienced the same issue. By the way, thanks for the clear title, it allowed me to find this thread :-)
So basically, I think it is related to a corruption of the OST. Why do I say that? éBecause I quit Outlook 2016, I put every OST and PST file into a folder I called "archive", then I relaunched Outlook and it synched all my emails, including the ones that were previously only accessible from the web and iPhone client. :-)
Not a Microsoft issue, just life... Ha ha
I hope it proves helpful to you guys!
Have a nice day.

First, let me say, me too. Outlook 2016 will not sync with Outlook.com. It syncs with Gmail. It syncs with the Exchange server at work. It won't sync with Outlook.com.
Second, I am so tired of the weekly fight with anything to do with Microsoft authentication, Microsoft connection, Microsoft sync, Microsoft Store search or download, since the update earlier this year. Windows 10 is broken. Microsoft Servers are broken. This is my life now. I'm so tired..... so so tired. If weren't for the tremendous number of hours I put into troubleshooting these problems every week, I'd have found a different solution by now. But I have to work for a living. Does anyone at Microsoft care? anyone?
