Error-NSLOOKUP-65 series ip is appearing RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi All,

In our domain while doing nslookup ,an 65 series ip is appearing.
For eg:if we give ip 10.20.100.10 it gives FQDN but if we give FQDN it gives 65.x.x.x ip and wrong FQDN(dc01.corp.xyz.com.xyz.xom something like it)

We have checked there is no DNS entry with 65 series IP,this issue comes for every DC frequently.

Can someone please guide me to resolve the issue.

    Thanks!!

  • Hi,

If you can post an unedited ipconfig /all of problem machine, we can further evaluate the machine's configuration to eliminate any basic configuration problems, and possibly provide suggestions and recommendations.

When using nslookup, you need to fully qualify the name you are querying with a trailing dot. If not, it will try to append the current context, that is the suffix on the machine. As for the 'dc01.corp.xyz.com.xyz.xom ' with 65 series IP, it seems the client side resolver is suffixing 'xyz.com' to all queries,it may caused by an external DNS server which replies for every Subdomain the same IP address, please check that. This will not affect AD, but it does cause alarm to someone who runs nslookup and sees this result.
