Office 365/Outlook Shared Mailbox Questions RRS feed

  • Question

  • If a user has a lot of shared mailboxes through O365, how many will show in Outlook desktop (latest version)?  What's the maximum that will show in the left nav?  Let's say it's 10 but the user has 30, how does that user pick and choose which shared mailboxes they'd like to show?

    Thanks

  • Agree with Ed, and Vasil has answered this question in another thread: Shared Mailboxes limitations, it should be also applied to Exchange online.

What you are most likely hitting is the number of active session a user can have against the Exchange store. This article explains some of the limits and the methods to increase them if needed: https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff477612(v=exchg.141).aspx

And with sizes that large, I'm sure you will run into other server-side and client-side limits as well. Do you really need to access all 20 mailboxes at all times? Simply open them when needed, and preferably use OWA.

As many as have been added to the profile.  I don't know if there is a limit to the number of automapped folders, which get added to the profile if you have automapping enabled and the user has rights on the shared mailboxes.

    >>>  What's the maximum that will show in the left nav?

Try adding them and see how many you can get to.

Can we agree on one thing?  30 is too many.
